What this site is
SepticOwner is an informational publication and a service request intake. It explains how septic systems work, what symptoms indicate, what services involve, and what to ask a contractor.
It is not a septic contractor, an inspector, an engineer, a designer, or a regulatory authority, and nothing on it should be treated as any of those.

Contractor relationships
Where a service request is assigned to a provider, any contract for work is between you and that provider. SepticOwner is not a party to it.
We do not perform the work, supervise it, set its price, guarantee its quality, or warrant it. We do not claim to have vetted, verified or certified any contractor. The contractor selection standard sets out what we recommend you verify yourself before hiring anyone.
No price or availability guarantees
- We do not publish price figures for septic services, and nothing here is a quotation.
- We do not guarantee that a provider covers your area.
- We do not promise a response time.
- We do not promise a number of quotes.
- We do not guarantee that any contractor will accept your work.
- Coverage and availability change without notice.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information in any request you submit.
- Confirm applicable requirements with the authority with jurisdiction over your property.
- Verify a contractor’s credentials, insurance and scope before engaging them.
- Make your own decisions about work performed on your property.
- Do not submit a request on behalf of someone else without their authority.
- Do not use this site or its forms for spam, solicitation or automated submission.
Content and accuracy
We aim to be accurate, and our editorial standards page states the rules we write under — including the prices we will not publish and the local facts we will not invent.
Even so, septic practice varies, requirements change, and no publication can account for every property. Content is provided as-is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, SepticOwner is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of this site, from reliance on its content, or from work performed by any contractor. That includes decisions made about septic maintenance, repair or replacement.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Is SepticOwner responsible for the contractor’s work?
No. Where a request is assigned to a provider, the contract for work is between you and that provider. We do not perform, supervise, price, guarantee or warrant the work. Verify credentials, insurance and scope before engaging anyone.
Can I rely on this site for what my local rules require?
No, and we deliberately do not publish jurisdictional requirements. Septic rules are set locally and change. Confirm with the health department or authority with jurisdiction over your property, and see our source policy for why we take this position.
Can I republish your content?
Not without permission. You are welcome to read, print and share pages for personal use, including sending a page to a contractor or a family member. Republishing it, or using it to populate another publication, is not permitted.
What if I disagree with something on the site?
Tell us, and name the page and the specific claim. If it states a price, presents a universal rule, invents a local fact or gives unsafe instructions, it is a defect by our own published standard and we will correct it.
