SepticOwner

Privacy Policy

This policy describes what SepticOwner collects, why, and who it goes to. It is written to be read rather than to be comprehensive-sounding.

What we collect

When you submit a service request, we collect what you enter on the form. That includes your name, email address, phone number, preferred contact method, the property address, and what you tell us about the property and the situation.

The form also records attribution information: the page you submitted from, the market and locality associated with that page, the service and problem intent, the triage result if you used the tool, the page you first landed on, the referring site if your browser provided one, and any campaign parameters present in the URL.

Why we collect it

  • To review and classify your request.
  • To determine whether a provider covers your area and service category.
  • To pass the request to that provider so they can contact you.
  • To contact you ourselves if we need clarification or if no provider is available.
  • To understand which pages and markets generate requests, so the site can be improved.
  • To identify duplicate submissions.
  • To detect and reject spam and automated submissions.

Who it is shared with

When your request is assigned, your details go to that single provider so they can contact you and quote the work. During the exclusive period the request is not sent to any other contractor.

The site is hosted on Netlify, and form submissions are processed through Netlify’s form handling, so submission data passes through and is stored by that service as part of delivering it to us. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

Analytics

Analytics on this site is inactive unless a measurement identifier has been configured at build time. No analytics identifier from any other project is used here.

When analytics is active it records page views and interaction events such as starting or completing a request form or the triage tool. It is used to understand which content is useful, not to build a profile of you.

How long it is kept

  • Service request data is kept while it is operationally needed — review, assignment, follow-up and dispute resolution.
  • Assignment records are kept so that exclusivity and duplicate policies can be applied consistently.
  • You may ask us to delete your request data; see below.
  • Where a provider holds your details because a request was assigned to them, their retention is governed by their own practices, and you can ask them directly.

Your requests

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email hello@septicowner.com and say what you are asking for.

If a request has already been assigned to a provider, tell us and we will let them know — but you may also want to contact them directly, since they hold the details independently of us.

Cookies and similar technologies

The public pages of this site are static and do not require you to accept cookies to read them. Where analytics is active it may set a cookie or use local storage to distinguish sessions.

The triage tool keeps your answers in your browser while you use it so that the result can be carried to the request form. That is local to your device unless you submit the form.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will appear on this page. Because the site is a static publication, the practical way to see what changed is to compare against the version you previously read.

Common questions

Do you sell my information?

No. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing. Your details go to the single provider a qualified request is assigned to, so that they can contact you about the work you asked about.

Will multiple contractors get my details?

Not during the exclusive period. A qualified request goes to one provider. If that provider declines or does not respond, the request may be reassigned to another — sequentially, never simultaneously.

Can I use the site without submitting anything?

Yes. All of the guidance is readable without submitting a form, and the triage tool works entirely in your browser — its answers are not sent anywhere unless you choose to submit a request.

How do I get my data deleted?

Email hello@septicowner.com and say what you want deleted. If your request was already assigned to a provider, tell us and we will notify them, but you may also want to contact them directly since they hold the details independently.
